Sarah Neufeld, LMSW

Therapist

I began my journey of helping others over 20 years ago after earning my undergraduate degree in Social Work. Since that time, I have worked with individuals and families impacted by the effect of abuse and neglect, including issues related to substance abuse and trauma. I earned my master’s degree in counseling from Northwest Nazarene University in 2018, with a specialization in marriage, couple, and family counseling.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have training and experience working with adults and children impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. I have also worked with couples and families experiencing interpersonal stressors related to communication problems, infidelity, and parent/child conflict. I take a trauma-informed and systemic approach to therapy by integrating models such as Internal Family Systems, Gottman Method, and Trauma-Informed CBT. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy and ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), evidence-based techniques used to treat trauma, anxiety, and phobias.

*Taking New Clients
Where do we go when we feel stuck, out of touch with ourselves, and overwhelmed with the prospect of facing day-to-day life? Deciding that a change is worth working towards is often a difficult decision with a multitude of hardships leading up to it. I am privileged to walk alongside people to promote healing and connection with ones whole self. I enjoy working with adolescents (12-17) and adults with a variety of concerns, including addiction, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I integrate a variety of modalities, including person-centered, internal family systems (IFS), and trauma informed. CBT believing that creating a non-judgmental space of safety and acceptance nurtures the healing process. We all have the elements we need within us to thrive, and sometimes we need support to reconnect with the pieces of us most needing our attention. I earned by Master of Arts in counseling from Boise State University with a concentration on addiction. I have experience working a variety of individuals including those impacted bydomestic violence and different forms of abuse. Taking those first steps of seeking support can be intimidating and take an immense amount of courage. I am honored to be a part of individuals’ healing journey as they invite me into both challenging and joyful parts of their lives. The venture to create change in our lives is challenging but oh so worth it. I am here to be present through it all.

It has been my life’s work to help others. For the past 20 years, I have worked in healthcare, child welfare, and the non-profit sector doing just that; coming alongside those in need in a variety of capacities. My love for all humans continues to motivate me to learn and grow every day. As a counselor, I not only integrate my own lived experiences, but my professional training, knowledge, and skillset to meet the client where they are and develop goals to heal and overcome adversity.

My undergraduate degrees are in Philosophy and Social work with an emphasis in Human Rights. As a Licensed Master Social Worker, LMSW, I am passionate about creating a safe space for healing and am dedicated to empowering clients to see their strengths, abilities, and inherent value through a collaborative therapeutic approach.  I am trained in a number of therapeutic modalities including but limited to: EMDR, TF-CBT, CBT, MI, SFT, DBT, and specialize in acute and complex trauma.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve teens (13-17), adults, couples, and families as a therapist. Together, we will Strive to enhance your human experience by healing the past, living in the present, and finding joy in the future.

*Taking New Clients

As a therapist, I strongly believe that all people have the capacity to heal themselves but sometimes need some extra help. My goal is to empower my clients, and their families, to live meaningful lives, and to build skills to navigate life's challenges.

I received my bachelor's degree from College of Idaho in 2014, and my master's degree, in Social Work, in 2020. I have experience working with a wide variety of clients, and especially love working with children and teens.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked with kids and teens as a whitewater kayaking instructor/raft guide and have been involved in various organizations that offer outdoor programs for kids. Now, as a clinician, I like to use experiential techniques, including mindfulness activities, play therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).  I also take a family systems approach, and love when parents are able to be involved in their child's journey. I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, eating/body-image issues, attachment issues, and emotional/behavioral issues.

When I am not with my clients, I enjoy being outdoors with my pup, Daisy. Together we go on lots of rock climbing, kayaking, and backpacking adventures!

Title

Tylene Channer, LCSW
Clinical Director/Owner

 .

Counseling is about striving for progress and sustainable changes, not perfection. My name is Tylene and I am the owner and a therapist at Strive Counseling. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 24 years of experience in both social work and counseling settings, I can offer both experience and insight into life challenges. I currently provide counseling services for individuals (teens through adults), couples, and groups. I believe in making sure there is a good fit between the client and counselor and empowering people through focusing on their own inner strengths and abilities. I recognize that each person is unique in their own way and through the therapeutic process we will find what best helps you as an individual.

I use a variety of therapy techniques to address problems. I have been providing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapy for an often times quicker approach to trauma, anxiety, and stress for 15 years with high success rates. I am trained in ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) and I am also certified in hypnotherapy. I have extensive training in trauma focused-CBT, and a variety of other techniques. I am able to supervise professionals as a registered clinical supervisor.
