Counseling Inc.

I believe that every person is a unique and beautiful creation, with the capacity to adapt and heal. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and also hold a Masters degree in Forensic Psychology. I graduated from Northwest Nazarene University in 2013 with my MSW, however, I have been working with trauma survivors as a Forensic Interviewer since 2008. I am passionate about coming alongside individuals as they heal, and feel privileged to have the opportunity to see growth as I work with children, teens, and adults.

I started volunteering with a Therapy Dog program several months ago and have seen how animals, like my dog Paisley, can bring comfort and smiles to individuals of all ages, even in times of distress or unhappiness. I am able to offer Paisley as a Comfort Animal during session to those interested. (Paisley acts as a Comfort Animal only when in session. His role in session is in no way linked to his status with TDI, and neither of us are acting on behalf of or representing TDI in our work with Strive Counseling, Inc.)

"Strive to fight your way forward and not be held down by the past."

Let us help you on your journey by working along side you, to encourage and assist you with the tools to succeed.

Counseling is about striving for progress, not perfection. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 18 years of experience as a professional in both social work and counseling settings.  I currently provide counseling services for individuals, couples, and groups, teens through adults. I believe in making sure there is a good fit between the client and counselor and empowering people through focusing on their own inner strengths and abilities. I recognize that each person is unique in their own way and through the therapeutic process we will find what best helps you as an individual. I use a variety of therapy techniques to address problems. I have been providing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapy for an often times quicker approach to trauma, anxiety, and stress for 10 years with high success rates. I am also certified in hypnotherapy, and have extensive training in trauma focused-CBT, and a variety of other techniques. I am a registered clinical supervisor.

I began my journey of helping others over 15 years ago after earning my undergraduate degree in Social Work. Since that time, I have worked with individuals and families impacted by the effect of abuse and neglect, including issues related to substance abuse and trauma. I recently returned to school and earned my master’s degree in counseling from Northwest Nazarene University in 2018, with a specialization in marriage, couple, and family counseling.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have training and experience working with adults and children impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. I have also worked with couples and families experiencing interpersonal stressors related to communication problems, infidelity, and parent/child conflict. I take a trauma-informed and systemic approach to therapy by integrating models such as Internal Family Systems, Gottman Method, and Trauma-Informed CBT. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy, an evidence-based technique used for trauma, anxiety, and phobias.
