Life can feel overwhelming at times, whether you're struggling with anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, or major life transitions. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to move toward healing and growth.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology before completing my Master of Social Work, providing me with a strong foundation in understanding human behavior, mental health, and evidence-based therapeutic practices. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, providing counseling for clients ages 5 and older. While I enjoy working with individuals across the lifespan, I have a particular passion for supporting adolescents and teenagers as they navigate the unique challenges of identity development, emotional well-being, relationships, school, and life transitions.

I have experience helping clients who have experienced trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, stress, and self-esteem concerns. I also have experience working with the military community, understanding the unique stressors and life transitions that service members, veterans, and military families often face. My approach is warm, collaborative, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. I draw from evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), mindfulness, and person-centered therapy, tailoring each session to meet your unique needs and goals.

I strive to make therapy feel comfortable, approachable, and free of judgment. Whether we're talking through difficult emotions, learning new coping skills, or celebrating small victories, I want my clients to know they have a space where they can be authentic, accepted, and supported. I believe every individual possesses resilience and the capacity for growth.

It has been my life’s work to help others. For the past 20 years, I have worked in healthcare, child welfare, and the non-profit sector doing just that; coming alongside those in need in a variety of capacities. My love for all humans continues to motivate me to learn and grow every day. As a counselor, I not only integrate my own lived experiences, but my professional training, knowledge, and skillset to meet the client where they are and develop goals to heal and overcome adversity.

My undergraduate degrees are in Philosophy and Social work with an emphasis in Human Rights. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, I am passionate about creating a safe space for healing and am dedicated to empowering clients to see their strengths, abilities, and inherent value through a collaborative therapeutic approach.  I am trained in a number of therapeutic modalities including but limited to: EMDR, TF-CBT, CBT, MI, SFT, DBT, and specialize in acute and complex trauma.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve teens (13-17), adults, couples, and families as a therapist. Together, we will Strive to enhance your human experience by healing the past, living in the present, and finding joy in the future.

"Choosing to begin therapy can feel vulnerable, and I deeply honor the strength it takes to reach out. My passion for helping others began at a young age and continues to guide the heart of my work today. As a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), I am committed to creating a warm, compassionate environment where you can show up just as you are.

I take a person-centered approach, meeting you where you are in your journey and moving at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating life transitions, emotional challenges, and healing from difficult experiences. I thoughtfully integrate therapeutic approaches such as play therapy, child/person-centered, nitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, mindfulness practices, and trauma-informed care, always tailoring the process to your unique needs.

I believe that each person carries inherent strengths, even in seasons when it may not feel that way. Together, we will gently explore what feels heavy, nurture resilience, and create space for growth and healing. You do not have to navigate it alone."

Hi, I'm Kate. I'm currently an intern at Strive Counseling, completing my graduate counseling studies at NNU. You will hear my voice answering as well as returning calls for Strive, as well as providing counseling.

I want to create a place where clients can be sacredly and authentically held; witnessed and seen through their stories.  From this place, I want to develop a relationship that can challenge and empower the individual into their own spaces of growth and agency.  I want to celebrate with the client the ways that they are learning to be and move in life. This is a tender process, and I approach it with compassion-focused therapy and look at trauma through the lens of IFS to create space for understanding and embracement of all parts. I also incorporate mindfulness practices to help clients develop a deeper awareness and tolerance for sitting with their pain and authentic selves.

My approach is a client-led process as I believe that each individual has the capacity to heal within themselves, with tools and insights that come from walking with the therapist in the therapeutic process. I want to understand and incorporate all the aspects that are valuable culturally, spiritually, and philosophically into our work.

I currently enjoy working with children/youth ages 3 through adults.  I have worked with families and children as both an intern and as a CBRS worker. In addition, I have mentored youth and worked at several camps with teens and kids.

I came to counseling later in life, and I’m glad for the opportunity to bring both my training and real-life experience into this work. I believe healing happens when we sit beside each other with honesty, respect, and a clear plan. Therapy should feel understandable, not confusing. My job is to help you make sense of what you’re going through, and to walk alongside you as you reclaim your story and your stability.

I’ve spent time working with people in recovery and with young folks facing big life challenges. These are communities I care deeply about. I also understand the shifts and transitions that come with aging—changes in identity, purpose, or relationships—and I approach these conversations with patience and openness.

I look forward to meeting you and learning about what matters most in your life.

I am Gwen Richard, a graduate student working towards my master’s in Clinical Mental Health at NNU.

I believe that healing happens in authentic relationships, not despite our wounds, but through them. I'm developing my clinical practice by working with trauma survivors, those navigating grief and loss, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community of all ages.

Drawing from Relational Cultural Theory, Compassion Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, I approach each person as a whole human being shaped by their story, relationships, and the systems they move through. I believe that you are not your diagnosis, your history, or your hardest moments.

My work is grounded in genuine connection, safety, and the belief that you deserve to be fully seen. I would be honored to walk alongside you. Therapy with me is a space to be your fully human self.

Title

Tylene Channer, LCSW
Clinical Director/Owner

 .

Counseling is about striving for progress and sustainable changes, not perfection. My name is Tylene and I am the owner and a therapist at Strive Counseling. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 25 years of experience in both social work and counseling settings, I can offer both professional expertise and insight into life challenges. I currently provide counseling services for individuals (teens through adults), couples, and groups. I believe in making sure there is a good fit between the client and counselor and empowering people through focusing on their own inner strengths and abilities. I recognize that each person is unique in their own way and through the therapeutic process we will find what best helps you as an individual.

Sometimes talk therapies can't get to the root of the problem or get you "unstuck" from your current issue, which is why we will cater the therapeutic technique to your specific issue and may use a type of therapy that is more intensive and works quicker, some of these therapies are listed below. I have been providing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapy for an often times quicker approach to trauma, anxiety, and stress for 16 years with high success rates. I am trained in ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) and I am also certified in hypnotherapy. I have extensive training in trauma focused-CBT, and a variety of other techniques. I have been supervising interns and other social work and counseling professionals for 19 years as well as a registered clinical supervisor.
